Day 24. Dickson, TN

We left Bristol today and headed out across Tennessee.  The folks at the campground in Bristol were super nice. Last night the camp host came by and asked if it was ok to bring down his friends to see our Newmar. Of course we welcomed them in. The friends were a couple who live nearby and help out at the campground part time. The wife has a prosthetic leg due to cancer and they are in the process of selling their home and looking to buy a motorhome so they can do the snowbird thing with their friends.  Part time in Bristol, part time in Florida.  So anyway, the lady went up the lift into our coach and checked it out. This morning the husband told us it's all she has talked about since. So this morning we pulled out of the campground and turned left to head for I81, and there was the husband standing on the shoulder of the road waving to us. The man hiked up a hill out to the road to send us off!
morning in Bristol

It was a scenic, relaxing drive today continuing through the Appalachians.

We drove through Nashville today. I hadn't been to Nashville since O.J. drove the white bronco on a slow pursuit through L.A.  No, really, I was in Nashville on that day. But I couldn't believe how different it is. And it's growing like crazy. I counted no less than 12 high rise cranes working in the downtown area. Probably all the businesses leaving California for a more friendly state.

We wanted to put some miles behind us so we drove on through Nashville and camped at a little roadside joint called Tanbark rv park.
So...when you are winging it and have to pick a spot because that's as far as you're going today...you can't be too fussy.  I'll admit this is the most, um, rustic place we have stayed. Not saying it's not safe, or the people aren't nice...but it's the kind of park where people live full time. In pop-up trailers and broke down motorhomes.  But, hey, we're here we are comfortable and we just had huevos rancheros for dinner. No complaints.
Living audaciously, mom!
