We traveled south on I25 for a short bit and then took the smaller state highways North and East into the black hills of South Dakota. We saw Elk just off the road several times, and passed two Bison herds. (I'm guessing commercial operations)
We rolled into the Rapid City Elks Lodge and golf course at sunset. Luckily there was a spot available,(they actually have more spots than I thought) and the lady camped next to us ran right out and guided me into our spot. Like I said, nice people out there! They have been full time RVing. They said when they visit Pierre, SD tomorrow it will be their 49th state capitol visited! Said they had figured they could do it in 3 years!! As it turns out this is their 7th year full time on the road!!!! Their only next "commitment" is to be in FL by thanksgiving to see the kids.
When we got to the Elks Lodge it was about dusk so we got set up, had a cocktail, and then chicken tacos for dinner.
So now it's Tuesday noonish and we went over to the pro shop for a hot dog. This is about the nicest Elks Lodge I've seen!
