Day 12 was a pretty boring drive day. 😆
We drove through more corn fields in Iowa. Then we drove through corn fields in Illinois. We went through Des Moines, down to Davenport, crossed the Mississippi river, into Illinois. Then we headed South (away from Chicago) and crossed the Illinois river at Peoria. And south again to Effingham! That was all designed to stay away from the congestion of Chicagoland and suburbs.
One of the great highlights was today when we found a Kroeger grocery store with a gas island. We have Kroeger (called Ralphs) in our neck of the woods. So we got a 3 cent discount on gas price and re-loaded the fridge. Life is good!
We're at a nice park in Effingham called Camp Lakewood.
This place has a lounge! Full bar. We didn't go there, but Joni did
run over and get an order of nachos to go!
So, Joni is a nacho connoisseur - she likes real tortilla chips, with beans, and meat, and jalapeño , and melted cheddar...
Me, I like "ballpark" nachos. Like the kind you get at the stadium. Old school. Round chips, cheese whiz and jalapeños. Period.
Well you guessed it! They were old school. Man that was good. We've been sitting on the "patio" watching the moon rise. Nice.
Soon we'll start our nightly ritual of "where are we going tomorrow ". Man this IS the life.

Nice picture! You guys look relaxed, despite the driving. 👍enjoy the journey 😎
